Windows XP Tweaks

Making Windows XP better!

There are user settings you can make to make Windows XP work more user friendly. I switched from Mac OS X back to Windows several years ago, and a few user interface issues drove me crazy. Here are some changes I like, and you might too! You can change many other Windows parameters.

Make it easier to find the desired control panel.
Start -> Control Panel, click Switch on Classic View.

Make it easier to find your data.
Start -> My Documents, right click and select Show on Desktop.

Get rid of all the junk on the left of folders.
Start -> Control Panel, Folder Options, select Use Windows classic folders.

Gets rid of the annoying message when you delete a file.
Right click the Recycle Bin and choose Properties. Uncheck Display delete confirmation dialog. Note: ths action also immediately deletes files on USB and other removable drives!
